At the start of the lockdown period in March, the Gwynedd Volunteer Centre created a Volunteer Bank of individuals who would be ready to help others in our communities. With recent changes in restrictions and indeed the shielding policy, the demand for volunteers is also changing. Furthermore, a number of groups and schemes who were set up to provide support during lockdown no longer operate as they were. Of course ,we still need to be prepared should a second lockdown be introduced. The Volunteer Bank remains open and we welcome any new registrations.

If you would like information about general volunteering opportunities, please visit and register on the Volunteering Wales website.

Welcome to the volunteering section!

Gwynedd Volunteer Centre provides advice and information to individuals who are interested in volunteering. As part of our service, we recruit and refer volunteers to organisations that are of interest and who are looking for volunteers.

We provide advice, information and guidance on all aspects of volunteering and work closely with individuals and organisations by raising awareness of volunteering, promoting volunteering, developing new opportunities and work with groups who involve volunteers to improve practices.

What is a volunteering?

Simply, volunteering is an activity which:

  • is undertaken freely and by choice
  • is being done in the interest of the public or community
  • is not being done for financial gain
